The Healthy Schools Summit  on January 18, 2013, was a great success. In attendance were Mayor Castro, expert speakers from various areas of health and wellness, and 260 individuals from the community, including parents, teachers, administrators and city organizations learned new information and shared best practices about wellness policies in San Antonio's school districts.

The Healthy Schools Initiative focuses on improving nutrition and physical activity in schools throughout San Antonio.  The Healthy Schools Initiative supports First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move initiative, the Healthier US Schools Challenge, the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, and School Specialty.
