Benefits of Membership

Voluntary participation

Participation in the SABGH, its projects and events is voluntary; however members are invited to serve on a committee and help meet the mission of the SABGH.

Worksite Wellness Forums

Free educational events provided for members to share and learn about best practices in employee health promotion.

Healthy Workplace Recognition Program (HWRP)

Apply to the HWRP and be recognized by the SABGH in coordination with the Mayor's Fitness Council for your organization's efforts in employee health promotion.

Access to educational resources

The SABGH aims to provide the local business community with free resources to enhance or develop worksite wellness initiatives and recommend best practices and policies for employee health promotion.

Networking

Membership in the SABGH offers opportunities to network with other local HR benefits and wellness professionals addressing challenging issues among their efforts to improve employee health and wellness.


Classes of membership

Members:

Employers that are non-health care organizations and provide health benefits plans for employees.

Allied Members:

Companies and organizations that provide, sell, administer, underwrite or consult on health care, wellness, or other health-related services, benefits or insurance.

Allied members are not eligible to serve on the Board of Directors, be officers of the SABGH or vote on SABGH issues.

Mission

The mission of the SABGH is to work with employers and the community to promote a healthier San Antonio by:

  • Promoting employee health and wellness education.
  • Serving as a resource for sharing programs and ideas to positively impact employee health.
  • Publicly recognizing local employers for best practices in workplace health promotion.
  • Supporting strategic and economic solutions—addressing employers top health issues and ensuring employee accountability.
  • Working with the health care delivery system to address rising health care costs and improve outcomes.
